In what was perceived to be an attempt to increase interest in live events (house shows), in April/May 1998, World Championship Wrestling (WCW) had the TV Title change hands 5 times in as many days.

The title change sequence began on April 30, 1998, when Chris Benoit defeated Booker T to become the new WCW Television Champion in Augusta, Georgia.

The next day on May 1, Booker T won the title back in a rematch in Greenville, South Carolina. However, in yet another rematch on May 2, Chris Benoit came our victorious. This time in Charleston, South Carolina.

Savannah, Georgia hosted the WCW house show on May 3 and, yep you guessed it, Booker T regained the title by defeating Benoit.

Finally, on May 4 live on WCW Monday Nitro from Indianapolis, Indiana, Fit Finlay defeated Booker T for his first reign as WCW Television Champion. He would go on to hold the title for 41 days.

Title changes at live events certainly help create a buzz and give the impression that anything can happen at any given show. But does this come at the cost of destroying the legacy of the title?
