On 21 April 2002 the World Wrestling Federation presented their final PPV under the WWF name - WWF Backlash.
Shortly after this the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) due to a legal dispute with the World Wildlife Fund over the "WWF" acronym.
The dispute began in 1994 when the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) sued the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) for trademark infringement, as the wildlife organization claimed that the wrestling company's use of the "WWF" initials violated its trademark rights.
After several years of legal battles, the two parties reached a settlement agreement in 2000, which allowed the wrestling company to continue using the "WWF" initials in certain contexts, such as historical footage and vintage merchandise.
However, the legal agreement did not allow the wrestling company to continue using the "WWF" initials in any new or ongoing programs, which prompted the company to come up with a new name.
In 2002, the company officially changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which it has used ever since.

The name change also brought about a new logo, branding, and a renewed focus on entertainment rather than sports, as the company sought to broaden its appeal beyond traditional wrestling fans.
Overall, the name change from WWF to WWE marked a significant moment in the company's history, and the company has since continued to grow and evolve, becoming a global entertainment powerhouse with millions of fans worldwide.
The last WWF PPV itself will be remembered for the in-ring debut of Brock Lesnar, and Hulk Hogan winning the Undisputed WWF Championship from Triple H. This was Hogan's first world championship reign in WWF since 1993.
